Secure and convenient access to work files has never been more important. With remote work as the current default business model, manufacturing firm teams need simple access to their work, whether they’re at home, on the go, or working at the office in a reduced staff setting.

This was a primary concern for a local Pennsylvania manufacturing firm, which is why they got in touch with MainStreet IT Solutions.

Pennsylvania Manufacturing Firm Enlists MainStreet IT Solutions – Optimize Remote Work Experience

It was time for this firm to refresh its data center hardware. To help reduce costs and minimize the workload in the data center, part of this refresh involved migrating their on-premises Microsoft Exchange server to Microsoft 365. This would help remote workers at other sites and from their homes by leveraging a stable cloud portfolio of services.

The fact is that this manufacturing firm’s staff needs secure and convenient access to their files. Unfortunately, all those files were sitting on a server in their office. They were easy to access for staff at the office, but not so easy when they started working from home.

They knew they could do better, which is why they asked MainStreet IT Solutions for help.

Pennsylvania Manufacturing Firm Move All Files To The Cloud

A cloud migration is a big process, and if it’s not handled correctly, it can be error-prone and overly expensive. An improperly managed migration can result in a range of negative consequences:

  • During the transition, the business could permanently lose key data with no backup or redundancies to replace it.
  • The migration, already expensive, could take longer than expected and add additional downtime to the staff’s work life.
  • Once it is finally installed and launched, the platform is overly complicated and difficult to learn, leading to more downtime for the staff.

That’s why this manufacturing firm relied on MainStreet IT Solutions to handle the process. By having an expert IT company manage the project, this manufacturing firm’s staff could focus on their own work and trust that the process was being attended to.

We took over management of all their licensing and are able to provide US-based technical support from Microsoft as well. We also managed all configuration changes within the Microsoft 365 platform and performed any maintenance tasks required. Part of our Managed Services partnership with this firm requires us to monitor the Microsoft 365 environment for security incidents.

We migrated all email accounts from an on-premises Exchange Server to Microsoft 365’s Exchange Online platform with zero downtime. We also were able to migrate a number of file shares and old SharePoint sites to SharePoint Online for cloud collaboration with minimal downtime for file and SharePoint services.

Once the migration was completed, we were able to significantly increase the flexibility and scalability of their data, but we also enabled additional security features that strengthened their cybersecurity posture as well.

PA Manufacturing Firm “Remote Work Never Been Easier”

By moving their data to Microsoft 365 in the cloud, the MainStreet IT Solutions team eliminated this firm’s reliance on on-premise systems. With our help, they can now work from anywhere, from any machine, and do it securely.

All their processes are now optimized for remote work—and we can do the same for you
